Model 1700
Digital Motor Temperature Monitor and Alarm System
Simultaneous readings
from 6 sensors located within the motor
Programmable Alarm
Points
Help prevent motor
failure and expensive repairs
|
 |
| The
1700 Systems are designed as safety instruments for large motors (350
HP and larger). The Systems monitor 6 customer set temperature points,
either RTD's or Thermocouples and provide an alarm for overtemperature
conditions. The system can be configured to shut down the motors.
With modification the systems can monitor ground fault and/or diode
fault. Consideration is being given to monitoring voltage and current.
The Model 1700
System scans multiple Resistance Temperature Devices (RTD's) or Thermocouples
installed within the rotor windings or the starter bars providing
data on minute changes in thermal condition of the motor. Reliable
temperature monitoring of the windings is key to smooth operation.
Overheating is a clear signal of an impending problem.
This system monitors
6 rotor winding temperatures simultaneously, displays all 6 rotor
temperatures simultaneously and will indicate any channel with a temperature
greater than a programmable alarm set point. The alarm feature has
a relay output. The non-contact transmission method means no-fault
path from the rotor to ground exists. |

| Module
Support Ring - 1700A & 1705A:
|
| |
The
module support ring is an aluminum housing consisting of 2 pieces
forming a circle around the shaft. The housing adds about 2.5 inches
around the shaft. It is attached to the shaft in a proprietary bolt
pattern. |
| Module
Support Ring - 1701A & 1706A:
|
| |
The
module support ring is a metal band clamp ("strap on collar") and
a counter balance assembly. The transmitter is enclosed in a NEMA
4 enclosure, which is held by the band clamp. These are secured to
the shaft by tightening T-bolt nuts to predefined torque levels. |
| Module
Support Ring - 1702A: |
| |
The
module support ring for the 1702 is attached by 4 bolts to a customer
or Sensotec Wireless Products provided adapter that is installed in the shaft to be tested.
The adapter is a custom designed part and is not always possible.
The module support ring is a 2 piece arrangement consisting of an
aluminum transmitter housing inside a fiberglass epoxy collar which
holds the rotating antenna. The size is approximately 8" diameter
x 2" width which results in a very light configuration. |
| Rotating
Antenna: |
|
| |
The
rotating antenna for the 1700A, 1702A
and 1705A is a metal loop antenna that
is assembled in the module support ring. The rotating antenna for
1701A and 1706A is connected to the transmitter housing cover and
is held in place by a series of supports to the module support ring.

The
1211D PSU is a flange mounted box
which contains an impedance matching transformer and resonating
capacitance decade switch. This device matches the high voltage
low current 160 kHz oscillator power source to the low voltage high
current single loop stationary antenna inserted into connections
of the 1211D. In addition to transferring power to the transmitter,
the antenna also receives the RF data signal and routes it via coaxial
cable to the receiver for processing.
The 1711A
Power Module consists of a tunable power amplifier (PTU) that is
contained within a NEMA 12 enclosure and a stationary loop antenna
that is usually formed from 5/32 inch diameter brass rod. The stationary
antenna is placed around the transmitter assembly and then connected
to the PTU. The PTU is secured by bracket to the motor housing.
The power module unit is powered by the receiver electronics unit.
In addition to transferring power to the transmitter, the antenna
also receives the RF data signal and routes it via coaxial cable
to the receiver for processing. |
